Scholaread Privacy Policy

Thank you for choosing and trusting Scholaread (“we”). We respect your privacy and appreciate your trust and confidence in us. Scholaread promises to uphold the principles of responsibility, transparency, and minimal usage, and we will strive to protect your personal information to the best of our ability by following the legal regulations and industry standards of information security.

This privacy policy (“this policy”) applies to all relevant services provided by Scholaread. please carefully read and fully understand this policy before using any of Scholaread’s services. Once you start using Scholaread, you are deemed to have understood and fully agreed to this policy. We kindly remind you that this policy only applies to the information we collect.

1.1. Scholaread: Refers to the Scholaread client and platform

1.4 Deletion: Refers to the act of removing personal information from systems involved in daily business functions, in a manner that renders it unretrievable and inaccessible

1.6 Transfer: Refers to the process of transferring control over personal information from one controller to another

1.7 Sharing: Refers to the process in which a personal information controller provides personal information to another controller, and both parties have independent control over the personal information

During your use of Scholaread services, Scholaread will collect your personal information (including the information you provide and that generated as a result of your use of a service) as follows to provide you with better services and protect your account security, via third-party accounts (Google Analytics, Volcengine DataFinder).

  1. The information provided by you, including but not limited to:
    1. Information provided by you when logging into Scholaread through third-party accounts;
    2. Information provided by you during the usage of Scholaread.
  2. The information that may be obtained during the use of our services, including but not limited to:
    1. Geolocation information while using location-related services;
    2. Browser, mobile device information, IP addresses, and other related information while using browser or mobile applications;
    3. Log information generated during service usage, such as URL access or search terms;
    4. Account, profile picture and other information during login through third-party accounts.

2.2 Information We Use

  1. We will use your personal information for the following purposes in compliance with relevant laws and regulations, as well as Scholaread’s Terms of Service:
    1. To provide, maintain and improve the services of Scholared;
    2. To store and maintain user information for business operations or fulfilling legal obligations.
    3. For other purposes that you have agreed to.
  2. We will use or disclose your personal information to authorized agencies due to the following circumstances:
    1. Directly related to national security and national defense security;
    2. Directly related to public security, public health, and major public interests;
    3. Directly related to criminal investigation, prosecution, trial and execution of judgments;
    4. In order to protect the vital and legitimate rights and interests, such as life and property, of the data subject or other individuals, but it is difficult to obtain the consent of the individual;
    5. For the purpose of ensuring the essential security and stability of the provided products or services, such as detecting and handling faults of the products or services;
    6. Other circumstances as specified by laws and regulations.

3. How We Share or Transfer, public disclosure Your Personal Information

3.1 Sharing your Personal Information

Respecting the personal privacy of the users is a fundamental principle of Scholaread. Except for the following circumstances, we will not share your personal information with any company, organization, or individual:

4.2 We are aware of that the Internet environment is not 100% secured, and email, instant messaging, and other communication methods with the users are not encrypted. We strongly recommend that you do not send personal information through such channels. Please use complex passwords to protect your Scholaread account and third-party accounts to help us ensure account security

4.3 In case of a personal information security incident, we will promptly inform you in accordance with the requirements of laws, regulations, and relevant authorities: the basic situation and possible effects of the security incident, the disposal measures we have taken or will take, suggestions for you to prevent and reduce risks, and remedial measures for you,etc. We will promptly inform you about the event by email, letter, phone, push notification, etc. When it is difficult to inform users one by one, we will make an announcement in a reasonable and effective way

5. Your Rights

We will make every effort to ensure that you can smoothly access your account information whenever you use Scholaread. If that information is incorrect, we will provide various ways for you to quickly update or delete the information in your account (unless we are obliged to retain such information due to laws and regulations, litigation, investigation, or evidence requirements). In accordance with laws and common practices, you have the following rights to fully safeguard your privacy and security:

5.1 Access Personal Information

Except as required by laws and regulations, you have the right to access your personal information at any time. It mainly includes the following information:

  1. Account Information: You can access or edit your username, email, phone number and other information in your account by logging in to Scholaread or relevant third-party accounts.
  2. Search Information: You can access or clear your search history when searching.

5.2 Change personal information

If you find any errors in your personal information, you have the right to correct it by yourself. You can contact us by email at any time if you are unable to correct it by your own, we will respond to your correction request as soon as possible.

5.3 Delete personal information

Except as required by laws and regulations, you have the right to delete your information by yourself or to contact us to delete your information at any time. You can make a request to us for deleting your personal information in the following circumstances:

  1. You no longer use our products or services, or you have deleted the account that you used to log in to Scholaread or relevant third-party accounts;
  2. We no longer provide products or services to you.

5.4 Account Deletion

You can choose to deactivate or delete the account that you use to log in to Scholaread. Once the account is deactivated or deleted, it cannot be restored. Except as otherwise provided by laws and regulations, your personal information and all data stored in Scholaread will be deleted or deactivated. Please make sure to back up your data.

We may ask you to verify your identity before processing your request. Generally, we will respond to your request within 30 working days of receiving it.

As required by laws and regulations, we will not be able to respond to your request in the following circumstances:

  1. Directly related to national security or national defense security;
  2. Directly related to public safety, public health, and major public interests;
  3. Directly related to criminal investigation, prosecution, trial, and judgment execution;
  4. It is found that you have malicious or abusive exercise of your rights;
  5. Need complex technical means to update the system;
  6. The response to your request will cause serious damage to your or other individuals’ or organizations’ legitimate rights and interests;
  7. Involve trade secrets.

7. How We Use Cookies

In order to ensure the normal operation of Scholaread, get easier access experience for you, and make recommendations that may interest you to you, we store small data files called Cookies on your computer or mobile device. Cookies usually contain identifiers, site names, and some numbers and characters. With Cookies, data such as your preferences can be stored. When you visit again, we will display the information you need, and provide better services to you. Cookies do not track your personal information, and the information obtained each time you log in will automatically expire after one month of that login.

This Policy may be updated, revised, amended, or modified as appropriate from time to time.
